The “DEI climate” can feel a little like the stock market. Sometimes it’s up, sometimes it’s down.

It’s easy to get caught up in the trends of what is “in” or not, whether it’s the post-George Floyd rush to embrace anti-racism, or the more recent attacks on DEIA from the new US administration.

Transformational change that benefits everyone, however, requires holding steady and keeping an eye on the long view.

It means being pro-active and not just reactive.

And it means being realistic in our expectations while also aspirational in our dreams.

You don’t have to do this alone.

At Co-Creating Inclusion, our mission is to ignite systemic transformation by fostering cultures where equity, belonging, and trust are woven into the fabric of daily life. We work with organizations to create environments where everyone can do their most fulfilling, aligned work while feeling truly valued and supported.

This isn’t about “discouraging merit and leadership” - in fact it is the opposite. It’s about encouraging a truly merit-based approach where needs-based, trauma-informed inclusive leadership is the norm.

This isn’t about lowering standards. In fact, DEI as we see it is about raising standards to foster collaboration, innovation and inclusion in unprecedented ways.

It’s also about NOT putting the cart before the horse and overly focusing on diversity before you have a strong foundation in equity and inclusion.

And it's definitely not about breaking the law by discriminating on the basis of race, sex or any other protected class! Anyone who claims that DEI is about "reverse racism" towards white people does not have the same understanding of DEI as we do (and likely are deliberately mis-characterizing it).

Who this email series is for:

  • Executives and decision-makers: Leaders committed to long-term DEI transformation who want to ensure their strategy is impactful and sustainable, especially during current times.
  • Internal DEI champions: Individuals leading DEI efforts within their organizations, seeking practical tools and reflective practices to build resilience and momentum, even when DEI is not "in favor".
  • Stakeholders and teams: Those contributing to DEI work who want to stay aligned and engaged while navigating organizational and political complexities.

What you’ll receive every Sunday delivered to your in-box:

✅ Insights and reflections drawn from our work with a variety of companies and organizations, offering practical strategies to address real-world challenges.

✅ A guided weekly check-in to reflect on your top challenges, wins, and lessons learned.

✅ A copy of your responses to track your growth and progress over time.

This self-coaching practice encourages self-reflection, a critical inclusive leadership skill that helps us to "act, not react" and to pause, be intentional, counteract how we've been socialized to uphold the status quo, and move forward to create impact that is in alignment with our intentions and translates into tangible actions and results.

  • This is for you if you are in it for the long haul but may not be exactly sure what that looks like, or even what the best next steps are, especially in the current climate.
  • This is for you if you've been able to drive some progress but are exhausted from what often feels like screaming into the wind, not to mention two steps forwards, five steps backwards.
  • This is for you if you're feeling the whiplash of alternating between committed and demoralized.
